ALERT Education offers a comprehensive program that meets the Australasian Lymphology Association’s (ALA) Competency Standards and includes all learning and assessment to be accredited as a Lymphoedema Practitioner in Australia in line with the health professional’s scope of practice.
These units have also been designed to comply with Macquarie University’s microcredentialling and curriculum architecture frameworks. Each unit attracts 5 university credit points which can be stacked into a formal award.
Integration with ALERT's treatment and research arms provides access to highly qualified and experienced lymphoedema clinicians and distinguished researchers. Our training delivers the latest evidence-based scientific research, resources and cutting-edge technology, ensuring a comprehensive education at the forefront of lymphoedema research and treatment.
Our vision is to be the premier provider of continuing professional development and post-graduate qualifications for health professionals in lymphoedema, lipedema and chronic oedemas. The intended outcome of our program is to educate and empower health professionals to improve the lives of individuals at risk of or living with lymphoedema, lipedema and chronic oedemas.
The ALERT approach:
The two mandatory online foundational units form part of the Accreditation Program and it is recommended students set aside up to 75 hours per unit to complete the workload.
The regional units form part of the Accreditation Program and students select relevant unit/s to complete in line with their scope of practice. These units are delivered via a combination of online learning and assessment, and face-to-face practical learning and assessment. It is recommended students set aside up to 55 hours per unit to complete the online learning and assessment. A further 20 hours of face-to-face practical learning and assessment make up the total workload of 75 hours.
The standalone units can be completed as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and are delivered via combination of online learning and assessment, and face-to-face practical learning and assessment. Each of these units have a total workload of up to 75 hours.
All units have designed to be interactive and multimodal, enhancing the student’s experience. They include embedded readings, knowledge checks, skills videos and forum activities.
