Our e-referral portal
If you are registering as a new user, you will require a valid email address and contact phone number to submit referrals online.
This portal will provide you with:
- a single page referral
- a direct referral to the anaesthetist-led pre-admission clinic
- acknowledgement once the booking has been processed by the hospital
- an efficient booking system (single point access)
- a unique database customised for each practice
- auto-populated referrals for repeat patients.
Complete the form a minimum of two weeks prior to your patient’s admission date.
To assist you with this process, have the following patient information at hand:
- valid provider number
- patient name and date of birth
- diagnosis details
- expected admission date
- funding details (for example private health insurance, DVA etc).
Step-by-step guide
Depending on the setup of your organisation/practice and your preference for collaborating on a common patient booking list, there are two ways to access eReferrals.
Shared patient booking list for your organisation/practice (create user as ‘specialist rooms’)
- If your organisation already has an e-referrals account with Macquarie University Hospital ask your organisation's administrator to invite you to collaborate on a common patient and booking list.

- If your organisation DOES NOT have an existing e-referrals account with Macquarie University Hospital
- Your organisation's administrator should register a new organisation.
- They can then invite you as a collaborators to this new organisation.
Private patient booking list per doctor (create user as ‘general practitioner’)
If a doctor prefers to separate their bookings from other doctors, then follow these steps:
- The doctor should register a new organisation.
- The doctor can then invite practice managers/secretaries to collaborate on this doctor's booking list.
Note: If the collaborator needs to access multiple booking lists/organisations, they will need a separate login per booking list. For example – anne.smith@episoft.com.au could have a login anne.smith+1@episoft.com.au to access a second booking list.
