Macquarie University Hospital's Endoscopy Unit provides an essential diagnostic and treatment service for conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. We provide our patients with outstanding care and a comfortable experience, with:

Our highly experienced gastrointestinal specialists and surgeons can perform a range of the most advanced endoscopic assessments of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum and colon. Minor treatment procedures, such as the removal of polyps, can also be performed as part of the investigation.
Procedures we perform
The new unit provides diagnosis and treatment options for general surgery, gastroenterology, bowel cancer screening and hepatology services. We perform the following procedures:
- ano-rectal ultrasound, manometry and pudendal nerve studies
- capsule endoscopy
- colonoscopy – large bowel investigation
- endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography
- endoscopy and advanced endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound and radio frequency ablation for the treatment of Barrett’s Oesophagus
- flexible sigmoidoscopy
- gastroscopy – upper GI investigation of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum investigation
- oesophageal dilatation and single balloon enteroscopy
- oesophageal manometry and oesophageal physiology (specialist referral only)
- pre-scope and post-scope iron infusion.
