This 6-week program assists parents and carers of children (6-12 years) to develop skills to help their children understand and manage their emotions through emotionally responsive parenting. Parents will learn to be more aware of and regulate their own emotions, become more aware and accepting of their child’s emotions, communicate better, manage challenging behaviours, and have more positive relationships within the family. These strategies help their child develop their emotional intelligence to be able to better communicate about feelings, improve friendships, be more self-regulated, and improve self-confidence. The program is presented in a group format, which is a great environment for new ideas and strategies to be discussed openly.
The group program runs for 6 weeks. Groups are run regularly, dependent on client numbers.
The program costs $250 for one parent to attend, or $400 for two parents to attend from the same family, payable before the first session of the group. Concession rates available.
Please phone the clinic on +61 (2) 9850 8000 to make an appointment for an intake interview.
This 6-week program assists parents and carers of teenagers (12-18 years, still attending high school) to develop skills to help their teens understand and manage their emotions through emotionally responsive parenting. Parents will learn to be more aware of and regulate their own emotions, become more aware and accepting of their teen’s emotions, communicate better, manage challenging behaviours, and have more positive relationships within the family. Teens with higher emotional intelligence are better able to manage their emotions, communicate better, have more positive friendships, are better able to deal with conflict, and have greater self-regulation and self-confidence. The program is presented in a group format, which is a great environment for new ideas and strategies to be discussed openly.
